We “Art” All Week: A Peek into My Studio
Can a horse and a jellyfish work together? Apparently, they can when they’re sharing space on my art table! ππ¨
Right now, my studio is full of possibilities: a horse sketch, a jellyfish painting, paint tubes, brushes, and ideas waiting for their turn. There are cats in an upcoming painting, too. Everyone seems to be joining the studio party!
When Your Workspace Matches Your Energy - There’s something inviting about having your supplies out and ready.
You walk into your creative space, see what’s waiting, and feel that little spark: “Ooh, where shall we begin?”
Some days, I’m drawn to a sketch. Other days, it’s color, texture, or seeing what happens when I follow an idea without knowing exactly where it will lead.
My table has room for several kinds of art—and this week, watercolor is joining the mix.
Even Artists Love Being the Student
Starting November 1, I’m immersing myself in a free online watercolor week through Artefacto School, featuring Andy Evansen, MichaΕ Jasiewicz, and Ian McManus.
Since I’ve already registered, I received a sneak peek and could begin exploring some of the lessons early. Naturally, I couldn’t resist!
This is my first experience learning through Artefacto. Several of my artist friends have enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it for myself.
Even after years of painting, I love watching another artist work. A different approach to light, a way of connecting shapes, or one unexpected brushstroke can open up a fresh possibility.
Then comes the fun of bringing what you’ve learned back to your own painting and seeing how it feels in your hands.
Because that’s what we artists do, right?
We “art” all week. πποΈ
Art Classes Are Taking Shape
One lovely surprise from my recent exhibit was how many visitors asked, “Do you teach?”
Several were interested in beginner watercolor classes, and those conversations have inspired me to teach art again.
A beginner watercolor class is taking shape, and I’d love to hear what you would enjoy exploring.
Would you be drawn to watercolor, acrylic, oil, water-soluble oil, collage, drawing, or creating abstracts?
Are you starting for the first time? Returning to something you once loved? Curious about trying a different medium?
I’m imagining little workshops that give you a welcoming place to begin, explore your materials, and enjoy making something of your own. Leave a comment below or contact me through my website. Tell me what you’d love to try—and what you’d most like help learning.
Meanwhile, I’ll be here painting, studying, and sharing discoveries as I go. I hope you’ll make a little room for whatever sparks your curiosity, too.
With love and a little paint on my hands,
Madalyn π
