Carrying a Memory of Spring into Fall

There is something beautiful about remembering spring just as the world begins moving into fall.

Spring brings thoughts of new blossoms, brighter days, and the feeling that life is beginning again. Fall carries its own rich beauty, but sometimes it is comforting to keep a little piece of spring nearby—a reminder that every season eventually gives way to renewal.

That feeling lives inside my alcohol ink painting, Spring.

A delicate white flower opens beside a joyful pink bloom, both rising from deep green stems against a luminous gold background. The gold paper is not simply behind the painting; it becomes part of the artwork itself. It catches the surrounding light, allowing the piece to look slightly different throughout the day and giving the flowers a warm, glowing presence.

That sense of movement is one of the things I love about working with alcohol ink. The ink flows, spreads, and creates edges and textures that cannot be completely controlled. I can guide it, but I also have to listen and respond to what it wants to become. In Spring, that freedom created petals that feel alive—soft and translucent in the white flower, bold and exuberant in the pink.

The original is only 3.5 × 5 inches, but small artwork can hold a surprisingly large feeling. It invites you to come closer, notice the details, and spend a quiet moment with it. It can bring a spark of color to a small wall, shelf, desk, bedside table, or any little space that needs a reminder of beauty and new beginnings.
